What "We Don't Play" Means

The line that says you are not even on my board.

The origin: "You play games, we don't play games" came out of a viral clip where one side calmly declines the entire contest the other is running. It is not a rebuttal to a move. It is the withdrawal from the game the move was made in. The speaker is saying, out loud, that they stopped playing that version of this a while ago.

Why it is a strike: a loss is in the game - you played, you tried, you lost. The "we don't play" line is the opposite. It is the dimension difference. The other person is throwing a move that is valid on their level and non-valid on mine. Their whole strategy is not on my board. That is why it lands harder than any counter-argument ever would.

The register: it is used when the gap has gone wide enough that the two sides are no longer negotiating, they are just describing where they are. One is still in the contest. The other has already moved up, and the line is just the announcement that the difference is real.
