Nagi & Pokke: The Station Shift

Two goats, a patch of grass, and the commuters taking photos

The Job Is the Joke

The announcement is the whole story, and the story is that a railway company put two goats to work on a patch of grass that had been growing the wrong way, the one behind the station that the mowers had not been getting to, and the goats have been eating it since, the work running to the end of the season or until the grass runs out, whichever comes first. The names came with the announcement, the one for the male and the one for the female, and the names are the point, because the names are what the commuters say, the two of them called across the plaza by the kids, the names doing the work the mowers used to do, the keeping of the patch, and the keeping is what the game is, the grass growing, the two moods, and the commuters who stop, which is the shift, the one the card reports at the end of the minute, the area mowed and the mood curve that says the two of them made it through.

Our version runs the same shift in one minute. The grass grows on its own, the way it does at the station, and the two goats eat on their own, the way they do, and your tap is the speed, the extra bite that costs the mood, because a goat that eats too fast is a goat the other one is watching, and the watching is the gap the whole system runs on. The commuters come for the photos, and the photos are the cuteness, and the cuteness is the thing that pays for the decorations, the bow, the uniform, the hat, which are the three things the card keeps, with the area and the curve, the four numbers the shift is read in.

Why the Mood Is the Number

The area mowed is the work, and the mood is the reason the work is a story, because a patch that is mowed by two goats that are not happy is not a shift, it is an accident, and the accident is where the joke goes. The curve is the tell, the one that says the two of them made it through, and the card keeps it next to the area, which is the order the announcement reads it, the work first, and the two of them second, and the two of them is the whole reason the patch is a thing instead of a job.
