Backed vs. A Word

The pointer test

A backed claim has a pointer - something you can look at in the next ten seconds. A finished version, a number you already ran, a thing that exists. A word has no pointer; it only has later. "I would be a genius if I were given the chance" is not a claim about the world, it is a claim about the weather, and the weather cannot be pointed at.

The One-Second Split

Why the Word Wins by Default

It costs nothing and it is warm, so it is what people reach for first. The read the game builds is the reflex to ask for the pointer before the warmth. If there is a pointer, the claim lands. If not, it is just the weather, and the game tells you so.

How To Play

Step 1. A potential claim lands.

Step 2. Ask: can I point to it now, or only later?

Step 3. A finished thing is backed; an adjective is a word.

Step 4. Call the side before the timer.

Step 5. Clean runs earn the backing read.

Step 6. End with your audit score.
