The Four Telling Kinds
Only the fastest read earns the word
The mistake is calling every read a clock. A hunch is not a clock. A slow "I think that was off" is not a clock. The word is reserved for the read that lands the instant the tell shows - before the player even knows it showed. Here are the four kinds.
The Four Kinds
- Slow guess - a hunch after the moment. "Something was off." Not a clock.
- Feeling - you got it, but only after the fact. Too slow to count.
- Fast read - you called it as it showed. The edge of the clock.
- The clock - the same second the tell showed, you had it, and the player did not know you did.
The One Split
The split is who knows first. A slow guess and a feeling are the player knowing first, you catching up. The fast read is you catching the tell at the same time. The clock is you having it before the player realizes it showed. In the clock it race you feel which of the four a read is doing, and whether it actually earns the word.
