Late Is Not a Call
The whole skill, in one reflex
The read is one reflex, not a decision tree: does this keep happening if it is not named? If yes, it is doing quiet damage and you call it - the moment it lands, not the moment you remember it. If no, it is just the background, and the right move is to leave it be and keep the moment clean. The game runs that reflex under a timer, because the reflex is the whole skill and the timer is the only honest test of it.
Why the Timer Is Fair
A call you think about for a long time is a call you are not sure about. The ones you should be naming are the ones that read themselves in an instant - the pattern, the third time, the crossed line. The timer just keeps you honest: if you needed the whole bar to figure it out, you were probably sliding on something you should have named.
How To Play
Step 1. A thing lands, someone ignores it.
Step 2. Does it keep happening if unspoken?
Step 3. Yes - call it now. No - let it slide.
Step 4. A fast call is worth more than a slow one.
Step 5. A clean run keeps the streak.
Step 6. End with your silence read.
