The Rotation That Noticed You
The whole dread is a stop
The windmill is safe while it is turning. Rotation is the normal, boring, harmless state - the thing doing its thing, out at the edges, not at you. The moment it stops, the whole meaning flips. A stopped windmill is a windmill that has noticed. The blades that were going out to the edges come back in, toward the center, toward you, and the rotation quietly begins the wrong way.
The Two States
- Turning - safe. The wrongness is ambient, background, nothing to do with you.
- Stopped - not safe. The wrongness has a direction now, and that direction is you.
Why the Stop Is the Scare
It is not a jump. There is no lurch, no music sting. The scare is a quiet choice - the thing deciding to stop on its own, the way something that was watching you decides to look at you. That is exactly the loop the game plays: you keep it turning, and the whole question is for how long before it stops.
How To Play
Step 1. Hold to keep the windmill turning.
Step 2. The longer you hold, the faster it notices you.
Step 3. Release before the notice fills up.
Step 4. Let it recover while it slows down.
Step 5. One stop, and the blades turn on you.
Step 6. Log your windmill stare time.
