Kinda Chic Guide

The move of calling a totally ordinary thing chic and just owning it.

Where the word came from: kinda chic is the "kind of" hedge doing the whole job. The thing itself is not glamorous - repeating the same outfit, spilling soup on your shirt, calling your sister before a big decision. The chic is not in the thing. It is in the fact that you said "kinda chic" about it out loud and meant it. The self-praise is the point, not the item.

How it works: the more un-chic the thing, the funnier the "kinda chic." A quiche is already fine, so calling it that is just normal. But "kinda chic to wear the stained shirt to the meeting" lands, because the gap between the thing and the word is the joke - and the whole attitude is that you do not need the thing to be impressive for it to be a proud little moment.

The game: the chic-level calibration gives you a stack of "kinda chic to ___" cards. Your job is to feel which ones are the real ones - where the gap is wide and the self-pat lands. Rate them, and the page shows you how well you can tell a flat "chic" from a real one. End with your chic-sense card.
