Kinda Chic
A "kinda chic to ___" card lands. Slide the gap meter to how far the thing is from actually being chic.
Two modes. Calibrate: six cards, each with a hidden gap - slide the meter, lock it, see how close your chic-sense was. Generate: type the small thing and the page writes the self-pat line with your own gap setting.
The more un-chic the thing, the better the pat.
Flat means the thing was already fine - the pat is just a compliment. Full gap means the thing is genuinely not chic and you are the one who said it.
About Kinda Chic
Kinda chic is the move of calling a completely ordinary, unglamorous thing "kind of stylish" and just owning it. The chic is not in the item - it is in the fact that you said it out loud and meant it. The more un-chic the thing, the better the card lands. The game is a taste test for that gap.
How to Play
Calibrate mode: six "kinda chic to ___" cards, each with a hidden gap between the thing and the word. Slide the gap meter from flat to full and lock it - the page shows how well your chic-sense tracked the real distance. Generate mode: type the small thing, set how far it is from actually being chic, and the page writes the self-pat line for you.
The Card
Your on-target count and your chic-sense index - the "I said it out loud and it is not for you to grade" card, built for the moment someone says that is not really a big deal and you have a number to say you decided it was.
