Building Ghosts That Do Not Scare

Three types, each a different match for a different reaction. The generator is the shareable part.

The safe ghost in the Ghost Filter game comes in three kinds, and the kinds are built around the wave's own three reactions. The friendly ghost is the one that matches the laugh - a round face, a soft color, and the arms up in a wave instead of a grab. The silly ghost is the one that matches the staged scare - the shape is all wrong on purpose, a too-long body under a too-small head, and the face is a grin. The abstract ghost is the one that matches the ignore - no face at all, just a color and a shape, and the match is the room deciding it is not a ghost. None of the three is the fright; the fright is the one thing the safe version drops, and the kind of the ghost is what the scoring follows - the reaction that fits the kind wins the round.

The generator. Three picks, each with four options: a color (soft green, lavender, peach, or ink), a shape (round, tall, wavy, or a shape that is mostly arms), and a face (a wave, a grin, a blank, or one wide eye). The picks are not the ghost that shows up in a round - they are the ghost you build, and the card is that ghost with a name on it, the one the wave's clips did not have. The shareable part of the safe version is the ghost you make, not the one that spooks you, and the generator is that part in three dropdowns.

Why the three types are the whole lesson. The wave's criticism is that the fright was the content, and the safe version's answer is that the kind of the ghost is the content: pick a kind and you have picked the reaction that fits it. The friendly kind's reaction is the laugh, the silly kind's is the staged scare, and the abstract kind's is the ignore - which is the wave's own ranking in reverse order, because the wave's clips ranked the reaction over the ghost, and the safe version's card ranks the ghost over the reaction. The generator's three picks map to the same three tells: the color says the mood, the shape says the kind, and the face says the reaction the ghost is waiting for.
