The One Rule: Recovery
What a designed failure does that a rot will not
The Failure With a Purpose
The designed glitch is not a break, it is a move. It has a reason, the easter egg, the physics toy, the moment the game wants to show you it can do that, and it has a recovery, the frame where the rules come back, the collision that catches, the gravity that lands. The rot has neither, because the rot is not a move, it is the machine stopping the tending, the wall that no longer stops, the frame that no longer lands, and the two of them are where the three-second call happens, the moment between the thing going wrong and the thing going back. A designed failure goes back. A rot does not, and the not is the whole read.
How the Detector Scores It
Each of the eight moments is a still, a described frame, the door that did not stop the character, the gravity that turned around, the audio that dropped a beat behind. The call is which kind of failure it is, the one that recovers or the one that does not, and the miss is where the tells come out, the three that the game lists, the rule that changed and never came back, the audio that desynced, the stutter that is not a frame but a state. After the eight, the generator is the listening part, the slider that takes the catch-the-blocks mini-game and moves it from the working to the dead, one level at a time, and the point where it stops being a game is the point the yep starts.
The Tells, in Order
- The rule change that does not recover: the collision that stopped counting, the gravity that flipped and stayed flipped.
- The desync: the sound that landed a beat after the frame, the timer that stopped counting the way it was counting.
- The state instead of the moment: the stutter that is not a frame but a condition, the one that does not clear on its own, because the clearing is the recovery, and the rot does not clear.
Run the eight, then the slider. The first one is the read, and the second one is the ear, and the gap between the two is where the sensitivity number comes from, the one the card keeps and the catchphrase was built around.
The Generator Is the Ear
Slide the concentration from the working game to the dead one, and watch the point where the blocks stop being catchable. The card keeps the call rate, the tells you caught, and the slider position you left the machine at, which is the number the yep is about.
