What Does Chopped Mean?
The 2026 word for "not serving"
Chopped is the Gen Alpha insult for anything ugly, off, or low quality. If a look, a clip, or a person is not on point, you call it chopped. It is the "that is not it" of the group chat, said without a lot of sympathy.
Where It Comes From
The word took off in 2026 after a wave of "what does chopped mean" videos where kids asked parents to explain it and parents confidently got it wrong. The Dictionary.com entry landed at the same moment, which is the tell that a word has moved from the group chat into the mainstream.
The Two Uses
- Direct insult - "you look chopped" means you are not on, no notes.
- Quality call - "this edit is chopped" means it is off, whatever that means.
The Spin: Choppelganger
The portmanteau chopped + doppelganger. It is the person who looks like a famous one but a worse version of them. "She is just [celebrity] but chopped" is a full read in one line. In the chopped read-off you call which things are actually chopped and which are just fine.
