How To Bed Rot Well

Three rules that keep a rot day a rot day, and the rank card the simulator gives you.

Rule 1: set the start and the end, out loud. The whole movement lives on the chosen part. A rot day is a number with two edges - a start time and an ending you can say - and the first sentence of any of them should be that number, not the mood. "I am lying here until four, then the dishes" is a rot day. "I will not get up" is something else, and the word does not cover it. The simulator forces the same shape: twelve temptations with fixed times, and the card at the end reads the whole day, not a feeling about it.

Rule 2: mute on purpose. The phone stays on, which is the trap - a silent phone that is still counting every arrival is the opposite of rotting, it is a held breath. The move is to put the sound off deliberately and accept that the world is going to arrive while you are horizontal. That is exactly the button economy the game runs on: each temptation is an arrival, and the Keep Rotting button is the mute pressed again, one more time, for as long as the day needs it.

Rule 3: keep a little function on the shelf. Even a full rot day has a minimum - water, one message, the thing that would stop the week if it stopped. The movement's own accounts say so: the best rot is the one with a floor, not the one that loses the floor. The simulator makes that floor a number, and it is the number that decides your rank. You can be a grandmaster at the top of the scale, or a minimum viable person just above the edge - both are real days, and the card tells them apart.

The rank card, the one the game prints: Anxious Upright, the half that could not sit still; Cautious Liar, the one that counted the doors; Rot Novice, clean day, small rot; Half-Dissolved Master, the middle of the scale and the honest one; and the Grandmaster of Rot, who let the social clock die on purpose and called it a win. The best caption is the one that matches your number, not your ambition.
