Where the word came from: Malfoid is the female Draco Malfoy - the girl who says the cruelest thing in the room in the calmest voice, without ever looking up. It is not the loud, snarling kind of mean. It is the kind that lands late, the one you think about in the shower an hour after it was said.
What makes a line Malfoid: the whole test is restraint. A shout is easy; a Malfoid line is a whisper that stings. It never uses a swear word, never raises the volume. It is surgical - one adjective, one "oh" delivered with a little too much air, a compliment that is not a compliment. The slyer it sounds, the more Malfoid it is.
The game: the Malfoid ranker drops a set of cutting lines and asks you to pick the single most Malfoid one - the most cutting without the most crude. You get the slyest line, the one that did not need a volume button.
