The Golden Versus Fine Line
Where a little win stops being a hallelujah and just becomes fine.
Two kinds of win: in the light there are golden wins - the real hallelujahs, the ones you actually felt - and fine wins, the ones that are good but not worth a hallelujah. The whole game is built on the difference. Tap a golden win and your count and streak both climb. Tap a fine one and the streak resets, because a fine win is not a hallelujah, it is just a Tuesday that went okay.
Why the fine ones are blue: the blue wins are the distractors. They look the same size as the golden ones, they use the same language - me, fine, not bad, decent - but they sit on the wrong side of the line. Catching one is not a penalty you lose the run over; it just breaks the streak, because a streak is about reading the room right, not just moving fast.
Where the line usually sits: the golden ones are specific - green light, text back, coffee hot - and you can name them. The fine ones are vague - so-so, passable, could be worse - and they describe a mood instead of a moment. The reflex is to treat specificity as the tell: if you could name the win, it was golden. If you just could not say it was bad, it was fine.
