365 Buttons Guide
The year of doing a thing just because it matters to you.
Where it came from: 365 Buttons started with one person's quiet plan - buy one button a day for a year and use the pile to feel time actually move. It is not a productivity hack. It is a way to mark the passing of a year with something you choose, on your own schedule, that nobody asked you to do.
The line that made it: when people kept asking what the buttons were "for," the answer that went viral was the whole point - "it matters to me, and that is enough. I am not going to explain it to anyone." That refusal to justify your own small choices is the register of the year. Tumblr declared 2026 the year of 365 Buttons, and the brands that could say the same thing followed in.
The game: the button wall is a 365-cell grid you fill one button at a time. After each button, a soul question pops - "what is that even for?" - and you pick your answer fast. The "it matters to me and I am not explaining" answer builds your self-yes meter; the excuses and justifications score you down. Stacked "no explanation" picks light the wall up. End with your annual attitude card.
